Hi! I'm Jennie Hagen. I've been in the counseling field since 2005, and opened my private practice in 2014. I'm so excited to welcome you into this beautiful space I've created, and hope it'll be a great fit for you to launch or expand your own flourishing private practice.
How VCC Came to Be:
Opening my practice was the scariest thing I've ever done.
Even scarier than this:
This is me zip lining UPSIDE DOWN through the rainforest in Costa Rica. Apparently less scary to me than starting a small business. Maybe my amygdala is wired to perceive risk differently?
Adrenaline-junkie tendencies aside, what helped me take the leap to open my practice in 2014 was having access to a low-risk, part-time office space. I knew as soon as I sat down in the therapy office that it felt right. The numbers lined up. I could see just one client a week and pay my rent. Suddenly it seemed not just doable, but realistic. And exciting! (But still terrifying).
I love that I now have the opportunity to create a space to help therapists start out, grow, or expand. My hope is to build a small community of professionals who can consult with, learn from, and support each other as we all grow our practices and live the dream of helping people on our own terms.
Therapists have the power to change lives and the world around us. My goal with opening Vancouver Counseling Center is to support therapists in taking the leap to open or expand a private practice.
Mental health professionals of all walks are warmly welcomed at VCC, with an extra nod to members of underrepresented groups in our profession. Therapists of color, LGBTQI+ therapists, and immigrant therapists: you have an important perspective to offer your clients and our community, and I invite you to launch your practice here!
VCC is great option for counselors, social workers, psychologists, life coaches, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners,
